One of the most popular food items that are found today.
Ingredients
For boiling :
1 cup noodles,
4 cups water,
1 tsp oil,
1 tsp salt
For frying :
2 spring onions(shredded),
2 carrots (shredded),
5-6 beans (shredded),
2 capsicums,
2-3 dry red chilli (flaked),
1 cup cabbage (shredded),
5-6 baby corn (sliced),
5-6 garlic flakes (crushed),
2tsp oil,
2 tbsp tomato sauce,
1 tbsp vinegar,
1 pinch ajinomoto,
Salt, pepper to taste.
Procedure
1) In a big microwave safe bowl add water, oil and salt. Boil for 7-8 minutes at 100% power.
2) Add noodles and boil for 6-7 minutes at 100% power. Stir in between.
3) Strain the noodles and wash under running cold water so that the noodles do not stick to each other. Keep aside.
4) In another microwave safe bowl, add oil and all the shredded vegetables and microwave for 4-5 minutes at 100% power.
5) Add soya sauce, tomato chilly sauce, vinegar and ajinomoto. Stir it.
6) Add boil noodles to it and mix it. Microwave for 2minutes at 80% power.
7) Serve hot.
Variation
1) A non-veg variant of the vegetable chowmein can be made also. Small chicken cubes and small prawns can be used.
2) To make the chicken chowmein, take small pieces of the chicken in a microwave safe bowl and boil it at 100% power till the pieces tender. Add the chicken pieces along with the shredded vegetables in step #4 and proceed as per direction.
3) If you want to use prawn, then de-vein the prawn and wash thoroughly and before adding the vegetables in step 4 add the prawns and microwave for 304 minutes at 80% power and then add the vegetables as mentioned in step 4. Then proceed as directed.
